Modernisms News II: Pizza, Shopping Malls, and Art
On Saturday, July, 16, members of the steering group and academy participants got together and got to know each other at a pizza dinner in São Paulo.
Fresh and well rested the group met the next day to explore some interesting sites in the city: the Mário de Andrade Library, the Municipal Theatre, a shopping mall (yes!), the Chá Viaduct, the São Paulo City Hall, the São Francisco Church, the Páteo do Collegio, the São Bento Monastery and Church, and the Casa de Vidro.
On Monday, proper work finally began with Joaquin Barriendos, Camila Maroja, and Rachel Vallego presenting their projects, but first being introduced by an opening panel consisting of Jens Baumgarten, Thomas Kirchner, Lena Bader, and Gerhard Wolf. After the following thematic sessions hosted by Dafne Cruz Porchini, Abigail Lapin, and Pauline Bachmann, the group gathers again to pay a visit to the Galeria Estação in the evening.
