Andreas Eckert, member of the steering committee, is Professor of African History at Humboldt University Berlin (since 2007) and has been leading the “IGK Work and Human Life Cycle in Global History (re:work)” research center since 2009. Before that, he was Professor of Modern History with a focus on African history (2002—2007). As Visiting Professor and Fellow, he worked at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in London, the Maison des Sciences de l’Homme, Indiana University in Bloomington, and Harvard University. Andreas Eckert also writes for the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and DIE ZEIT. He has been Chairman of the Board of Directors ever since the Forum was founded.
